What Are The Gifts Of God

Talents Abilities And Intelligence:

The Gift of God – Bishop T.D. Jakes

Every person has talents, skills, and abilities. All believers have been given at least one spiritual gift . As 1 Peter 4:10 explains: Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering Gods grace in its various forms.

God is honored when we use our minds for His purposes . Intelligence is not something to be squandered. Rather it is a gift that should be developed to its God-given potential in order to serve and glorify God.

Bible Verses About The Gifts Of God

Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,The fruit of the womb is a reward.

When He ascended on high,Heled captive a host of captives,And He gave gifts to men.

Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,

Other Gifts Of The Spirit

Romans 12:7-8 also speaks of additional gifts; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. This shows that some are gifted at teaching, some at showing mercy, some in giving to the work of the Lord, and some who show an unusual amount of forgiveness .

Ephesians 4:11 reveals yet more gifts as Paul indicates there are, apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers. Again teachers are mentioned, evangelists are those who are unusually gifted at sharing the gospel with the lost, pastors and prophets . Apostles can no longer exist because by definition, they would be those church leaders who have been commissioned by the risen Christ and having been done so in His presence. Those who call themselves apostles have no such authority given by God and they are self-designated only, thusly disqualifying themselves as a true apostle.

The Gifts Of The Spirit

Definition

The gifts of the Spirit are gifts of grace granted by the Holy Spirit that are designed for the edification of the church, which can be divided up as gifts of speaking and gifts of serving.

Summary

The gifts of the Spirit are gifts of grace granted by the Holy Spirit to individual Christians. These gifts are to be exercised under the lordship of Christ for the edification of his body, the church. Christians are not to think too highly or lowly about the gifts that God has given them but are to remember that it is God who has sovereignly and wisely given them; each gift is needed. Each Christian is baptized in the Spirit at conversion, and thus each Christian is to be faithful to the gift that God has given them and, most importantly, seek to fulfill their gift in love for God and other Christians.

The gifts of the Spirit are gifts of grace granted by the Holy Spirit that are designed for the edification of the church. It is helpful to see a table of the various gifts in the NT.

Romans 12:68
Faith
Mercy
  • The gifts are to be exercised under the lordship of Christ . Attention should not be centered on our gifts or our experiences but the supremacy of Christ in all things. People may claim wonderful experiences, but if they arent living under Christs lordship, their gifts mean very little.

    The Gift Of Leadership

Gods Christmas Gift Living Faith Church

The spiritual gift of leadership is closely related to the gift of administration and, interestingly, the spiritual gift of pastor/shepherd. The Greek word for the spiritual gift of leadership is proistemi. This word means to lead, to assist, to protect and to care for others. The spiritual gift of leadership is found in Romans 12:8 sandwiched between the gifts of giving and of mercy. It is placed there intentionally to show that it is a gift associated with caring for others. This is what connects it to the gift of pastor/shepherd, and what differentiates it from the gift of administration. It is more people oriented than task oriented in its application. This is not to say those with the gift of administration do not care for people, of course they do, but those with the spiritual gift of leadership focus on people and relationships more directly.

The word proistemi is connected to caring for people in other passages as well. In 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 Paul says to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. The labor and work of those who were leading the believers in Thessalonica was that of tirelessly caring for their souls. Paul also connects leadership to caring for others when he asks, If someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for Gods church? 1 Timothy 3:5

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more;but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Romans 8:16-17

Three Keys To Unlock The Answer

Three key things help determine what the gift from God is:

  • has a grammatical gender of feminine in Greek.
  • has a grammatical gender of feminine in Greek.
  • has a grammatical gender of neuter in Greek.
  • Greek syntax matches gender of pronouns to the antecedent it refers to.4 So if “this” referred to either grace or faith individually, it should be in the feminine genderand there is no reason it would not have been had such been the intention. Such a form would be ambiguous, since it could refer to either grace or faith, but likely be referring to the nearest referent, and thus faith.

However, the neuter gender is used for the pronoun. This is the common gender used when a phrase or clause is the antecedent.5 So “this” refers to the whole previous clause, “By grace ye have been saved through faith.”6

So this fact expressed by the clause, that only have any who are saved entered into that state of salvation, is a fact that is not something that comes about from oneself, not “of you.” Rather, this is an “of God” thing, it is “the gift” of God that such is the way of salvation, .

So the “it” your question refers to is the English added subject of the verbless clause in Greek, which subject is pointing back to the “this” preceding it. Which “this” refers to the entire clause preceding it.

Gifts From God: The Foundation Of His Relationship With Us

The Gifts of Gods Word (James 1:17-24)

The primary basis for the relationship between God and us is love.

Most relationships are based on real or perceived promises, commitments and expectations. For example, the marriage relationship is founded on promises of love, commitment, honor and respect. A friendship has expectations of understanding, trust, honesty and shared interests.

The primary basis for the relationship between God and us is simple: It is love. The Scriptures tell us that God’s nature, the primary motivation in all He does, is lovean unselfish concern for all humanity. This is expressed by the apostle John: “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him” . John adds, “We love Him because He first loved us” .

Love is often expressed through giving. Jesus advised: “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” . As Paul explained, “God loves a cheerful giver” .

Gifts can enhance relationships, and God is the greatest giver of all .

Paul tells us: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” .

Let’s now examine some important gifts from God. He intends that they all contribute to our receiving, as a gift from Him, eternal life.

    The Gift Of Knowledge

The next gift of the Spirit is that of knowledge . Some people have such a gift of remembering scriptures. They have knowledge of God and His ways. They seem to be able to quickly distinguish which is biblical and which is not. Some translations say it is the Word of knowledge while others say that it is the utterance of knowledge. The Word is most certainly the Word of God. The utterance of knowledge could indicate that those with the gift of knowledge know when to speak particular words, when not to, and what words to speak with. Both words seem to fulfill what true knowledge is. These with this gift make excellent teachers, deacons, elders, or pastors.

What Are Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

    The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are unique skills and abilities given by the Holy Spirit to faithful followers of Christ to serve God for the common benefit of his people, the church. A listing of spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 mentions wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. Comparable gifts are discussed in Ephesians 4:7-13, Isaiah 11:2-3, and Romans 12:3-8.;

The gifts of the Spirit are simply God empowering faithful Christians to do what He has called us to do. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” The gifts of the Holy Spirit are part of “everything we need” to accomplish His plans for our lives.

Paul instructed that “We have different gifts, according to the grace given us… let use in proportion to faith,Romans 12:6.

What Is The Difference Between Spiritual Gifts And Natural Talents

Natural talents are physical abilities to do special things. Some natural talents might be musical ability, carpentry, mechanical aptitude, and artistic skills. Spiritual gifts are spiritual abilities to do certain things. Natural talents are often the vehicle through which spiritual gifts can be used. For example, a Christian vocalist may have the spiritual gift of evangelism being expressed through the vehicle of musical talent.

    The Five Gifts of God

  • “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
  • This Light is Truth, the Word of God. It appeared in different ways to the prophets of the Old Testament. For Moses, as an example, it came as the 10 Commandments. At that first Christmas in Bethlehem, it appeared as a babe in a manger. Later when the babe grew up, he Christ Jesus, declared he was the Light and the Truth. That appearance of the Light brought healing and salvation to all mankind. It also enabled mankind to accept the other four gifts. Finally, after Jesus ascended, the Light appeared in many forms. It has appeared as the Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit, Counselor, Comforter, Helper, Spirit of Truth and as the Science of Christ.

    2. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.”

The Word of God teaches us that God is Life, Truth and Love. The Word also says that Christ Jesus is an example of that divine image of God. Jesus taught mankind how to be that image in the Sermon on the Mount. He said that we need to be humble, meek, comforting, merciful, seeking righteousness, peacemakers, forgiving, nonjudgmental, not worried about material things and willing to love our enemies to experience that image and immortality, like him.

    3. “And let them have dominion…over the earth.”

    4. “And God Blessed them.”

    5. “And God saw everything he had made, and behold, it was very good.”

What Is The Best Spiritual Gift

    Gift of God Meaning

    So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.;

Gifts are great, but its more important to know how to love. God has given us His love as a gift. We love because He loved us first. Without love all the actions supposed to be gifts are empty.

Theres a reason the following portion of Scripture is so widely known. Love is the best gift. Love is what matters most.

Three things will last foreverfaith, hope, and loveand the greatest of these is love.;1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT, emphasis mine)

Seek to love above all else, and the gifts will find their place because God is love.
