The Romans 12 Gifts: Useful For Person
The seven motivational gifts found in Romans 12 perceiving, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, ruling, and mercywhen viewed as a profile provide a base for person-job fit suitable for use with all people regardless of faith tradition. This paper argues that people have some combination of all gifts that is in contrast to the popular literatures perspective of people having one or two gifts. When people are placed in jobs that fit their motivational gift profile people seem to be self-motivated to perform the requisite tasks. This paper recommends that future research examine gift profiles in specific jobs to see if there is a common profile for those people that are satisfied and motivated.
Stitinger helps us understand the profiles of the Romans 12 gifts in his use of the idea of the need for people to seek to understand their giftedness rather than their gift.3
How To Use The Spiritual Gift Of Exhortation
The gift of exhortation is the ability to encourage those who are feeling discouraged, depressed, or disillusioned within the body of Christ. If you use your gift of exhortation, people feel helped or healed. People who have this gift can find that random peopleeven you dont know very well tell them the strangest things.
I want you to know that these persons are not necessarily over-sharing. They are what you say will remain with you, and what they say will remain with you. Its easier to serve in this capacity when we know and care for the person who is struggling so I want to focus on how you can help someone you know hardly.
You can use your spiritual gift in this capacity by:
Listening actively it may seem strange that someone you dont know starts counting their life story but getting over the weirdness. Be sure that you do not show on your face. Pay attention to what the person is saying and make the appropriate responses so they understand that you are listening.
Offering a word of encouragement notice I said encouragement, not advice. This person is not downloading because they want advice. They are sharing because they have a cross to bear and its too heavy to bear alone.
We are called to bear one anothers burdens so thats what youre doing. Youre temporarily too heavy for them.

Gifts Of The Holy Spirit: Ministry
The ministry gifts are the way God works with what believers do to serve others and meet their needs. Its how we minister or ad-minister the love, grace, and truth of God to others. To administer is to apply and bring into use.
And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
The Bible provides a list of these ministering gifts and their purpose.
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
Many refer to them as the 5-fold ministry. Not everyone is called to the ministry but 1 Corinthians 12:28 adds a gift for helping.
God graciously empowers us all to help one another by His Spirit.
Beyond the 5-Fold Ministry Gifts
Spiritual Gifts Contribute To The Body
Your gift is to be used in order to help the body of Christ function in the world. For example, the spiritual gift of service is the hand of Christ in the world. People with this gift perform acts of service that demonstrate God’s love to others. Their service may take the form of setting up chairs in the youth center to carrying food to a family in need. Another example is the gift of exhortation or encouragement that can be viewed as the arm of the church that you put around those who are discouraged or need someone to walk alongside them.
You have a gift given by God when you trust Jesus. That gift means you belong to the body, and you have a place of service in the body.
So, how do you discover the gift God has given you through faith?
1. Spend time praying to the One who gave you the gift.
Prayer is conversation with God. The more time you spend talking with God, the more opportunity you have to learn what He has gifted you to do as a part in His body. Like an apprentice who asks the master craftsman how to use a tool, your prayerful questions will lead you to God’s plans for why He has given you the gift. The Giver of the gift is the best guide to show you how to use it.
2. Study the Bible.
3. Ask those who know you well.
God has placed a gift under the tree for you to open. Who would know there was a gift for him or her and not open it? You know you wouldn’t. In faith, now begin to unwrap the gift God has for you.

Giving And Voluntary Poverty
Those with the gift of giving love to give money and buy gifts for others, especially when it helps Gods work to get done. Here are some Scripture verses about giving: Matthew 6:2-4 Romans 12:8 1 Corinthians 13:3 2 Corinthians 8:1-7 9:2-8 Philippians 4:14-19.
PARENTS, if your child shows the gift of giving, be sure to start early teaching this child how to budget. It can be easy for those with the gift of giving to give so much away that there is not enough to make ends meet. As you teach, be careful not to squash your childs giving spirit. Simply explain that they can budget money to give away.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7
Those with the gift of voluntary poverty decide to live on hardly any money so they can give as much as possible to do Gods work. These people usually choose to live among a group of poor people so they can better relate to them and tell them about Jesus and the Bible. Here are some Scripture verses about voluntary poverty: Acts 2:44-45 4:34-27 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 2 Corinthians 8:9.
Notice the difference between the gifts of giving and voluntary poverty. Those with the gift of giving want to give as much money and things as they can to do Gods work. Those with the gift of voluntary poverty give up comfortable living because they want to reach the people who live in poverty.
The Gift Of Evangelism
All Christians are called to evangelize and reach out to the lost with the Gospel , but some are given an extra measure of faith and effectiveness in this area. The spiritual gift of evangelism is found in Ephesians 4:11-12 where Paul says that Jesus gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ. The Greek word for evangelists is euaggelistes which means one who brings good news. This word is only found two other places in the New Testament: Acts 21:8 and 2 Timothy 4:5.
Evangelists are given the unique ability by the Holy Spirit to clearly and effectively communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others. They are burdened in their hearts for the lost and will go out of their way to share the truth with them. Evangelists are able to overcome the normal fear of rejection and engage non-believers in meaningful conversations about Jesus. Their gift allows them to communicate with all types of people and therefore they receive a greater response to the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. They continually seek out relationships with those who dont know Jesus and are open to the leading of the Holy Spirit to approach different people. They love giving free treasure away for Jesus , and it brings them great joy knowing that the feet that bring good news are beautiful to those who believe . See Ephesians 4:11, Acts 8:5-12, 26-40, 21:8, Matthew 28:18-20.

What Is The Spiritual Gift Of Helps
The person with the spiritual gift of helps is someone who tends to work behind the scenes to get things done. The individual with this gift will often do his/her job joyfully and take the responsibilities off of others shoulders. They have a personality that is humble and have no problems sacrificing time and energy to do God’s work. They even have an ability to see what others need often before they even know they need it. People with this spiritual gift have a great attention to detail and tend to be very loyal, and they tend to go above and beyond in everything. They are often described as having a servant’s heart.
The danger inherent in this spiritual gift is that the person could end up having more of a Martha attitude versus a Mary heart, meaning that they can become bitter about doing all the work while others have time to worship or have fun. It is also a gift that can be taken advantage of by others who will exploit a person with a servant’s heart to get out of their own responsibilities. The spiritual gift of helps is often an unnoticed gift. Yet this gift is often an essential part of keeping things running and making sure everyone is cared for inside and out of the church. It should never be discounted or discouraged.
The Origin Of Spiritual Gifts
Before Jesus was crucified, He told His followers that He would return to heaven, but He promised to leave them with a helper: the Holy Spirit.
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you, and will be in you.
The Holy Spirit would not only comfort and be with them, but He would help them continue the work Jesus started on earth, sharing the good news of what Jesus had done through His death and resurrection and inviting others to believe in Him.
The Holy Spirit gave Jesus followers spiritual gifts to continue taking the message about Jesus to the world .
Those gifts were essential for spreading the gospel, leading the church, building up believers, and serving others as an example of Gods love.
Sometimes spiritual gifts are referred to as gifts of the Holy Spirit. Whichever term youre using, its vital to understand that were talking about gifts that are only within people who believe in Jesus, because His Holy Spirit is within them.
Spiritual gifts are not just special skills that some followers of Jesus just have in the way people in general have natural abilities. No one should become proud for possessing spiritual gifts, because they are simply God expressing Himself through people as they depend on Him.

What Is The Gift Of Ministering Or Service
The Various Gifts of the Holy Spirit Part Two Question 10
When the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he referred to the gift of ministering, or helps. He explained it this way.
And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping .
There are a number of things that we learn from Scripture about this particular gift. This includes the following.
Spiritual Gift Of Servanthood
The spiritual gift of Servanthood is the engine that moves the body and thank you is the fuel. Truly the heart of a servant puts the needs of the body and others in front of their own, and they find great happiness and a feeling of love by doing this work. These are the people that are always first to raise their hand when a project or challenge comes their way. They are not introverts and seek to be with groups in performing their work. Appreciation and seeing the results of their work is key to their involvement.
Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of Gods grace in its various forms.
..and to be hospitable is one of the virtues that should shine among Christians but as rare as Christians are, so rare is also this virtue.

The Gift Of Administration
The Greek word for the spiritual gift of administration is kubernesis. This is a unique term that refers to a shipmaster or captain. The literal meaning is to steer, or to rule or govern. It carries the idea of someone who guides and directs a group of people toward a goal or destination. We see variations of this word in verses like Acts 27:11, and Revelation 18:17.
With this gift the Holy Spirit enables certain Christians to organize, direct, and implement plans to lead others in the various ministries of the Church. This gift is closely related to the gift of leadership, but is more goal or task oriented and is also more concerned with details and organization. See also I Corinthians 12:28, Titus 1:4-5.
The Holy Spirit And Service Gifts
Service gifts are those that are required for the proper functioning of the body of Christ.
Whether you consider its expression in a local setting , or in its universal context , the enabling of believers to serve one another is a tribute to the gifting of the Holy Spirit. Every believer enjoys these gifts which are communicated at salvation when the Holy Spirit indwelled us . The Holy Spirits purpose in these gifts is spiritual growth in individual believers with the ultimate purpose of the body of Christ reaching maturity . This imagery of a body functioning is germane to the discussion of spiritual gifts. The illustration is clear and apt – just as there are a variety of members in a body that work together under the direction of the head for the good of the whole, so believers function in a church or the Church under the direction of the Head in heaven. Thus there is no room for pride or self-importance but interdependence and reliance on one another in an atmosphere of love . Regrettably, self gets in the way of this ideal, but the Spirits constant effort is to bring us back to our Head so that we treat one another in this ideal of mutual care and respect.
Here are some questions that often surround the topic of these service gifts.
- What is my spiritual gift?
- Do I need to know what my gift is so that I can serve the body effectively?
- I have heard people talk about developing a gift?
- What is a gift?
